Byron CDAT is delivering an awareness campaign targeting youth drink-driving that is local and youth developed. A short video was developed that addresses the risks of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

This short video incorporates local iconography, and uses “youth friendly” language as a means of speaking with the target audience. A group of young people have developed the script and are part of the filming and editing.

This collaboration with the target group is seen as an effective way to get the message out to the target audience around the Byron Shire as it is peer led.

The young people involved in the creation of this video have the opportunity to be heard and part of a larger project to minimise harm within their community.

This awareness campaign will increase communities’ understanding of the harms of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
